Changes and new faces at CFPT

Last newsletter you were promised introductions to some new members of our executive. Unfortunately new Director-at-large Margaret Whidden had to resign as she and her spouse Chris Stanhope have moved out of our area. Chris and Margaret were active members of CFPT during their time in Castlegar and CFPT thanks them for their contribution and wishes them all the best.

Four new executive members remain and they are:

Erica Scott (Secretary):
I'm more accustomed to being on the busy end of a shovel or tool belt, and have never been a secretary of anything before, so please be understanding of any deficiencies while I come to grips with office equipment and grapple with my organizational issues.   I am an avid user of the local trails - although I don't think I've enjoyed them all yet - and thought it would be good to give back.  I'm excited to be part of this group, and hope we can continue to grow and be good stewards...

Rita Wege (Treasurer):
Rita’s interest in hiking started when she became a keen observer of nature, particularly birds, wildflowers and butterflies. She enjoys short nature rambles, hiking in the alpine and world travels.  She decided to volunteer for “Castlegar Friends of Parks and Trails” after spending a lot of time on the local trails and appreciating the work behind the scenes that made these trails the wonderful resource that they are.   Rita brings to this position many years of bookkeeping experience and volunteer work with provincial and local organizations.  She and her husband Larry Prosser reside in the community of Shoreacres.

Alex Donaldson (Director-at-large):
Hi, my name is Alex Donaldson. I'm 18 years old and an avid mountain biker and snowboarder. I like building trails that are flowy, creative and technical.  I'm super easy-going an am always up for meeting new people.

Sheena Stienstra (Vice-president):
The more time I spend discovering the trails in my ‘back yard’ the more I love this area. My favourite trail is the Mel Deanna and fall is a great time to walk it – if you can squeeze in some time between the picking and the canning. Hope to see you out there!
