Castlegar Parks and Trails Society
Building and caring for the trails of the Castlegar area since 2001 — non-motorized paths for hikers, families, and mountain bikers alike.
What we do
A paid crew and a lot of volunteers
The trails around Castlegar are cared for by a combination of a paid seasonal crew and dedicated volunteers. Our crew handles maintenance through the spring-to-fall season, while volunteers turn out season after season to help clear, repair, and build new routes — all while respecting the natural environment and the area's cultural heritage.
With support from local grants and our members, we're able to keep this network growing and in good shape for everyone.
Our trails
Something for every pace
Take an easy riverside stroll around Waldie Island, follow the Kootenay River along the 12 km Skattebo Reach, or explore sections of the Trans Canada Trail at Ward's Ferry. Prefer two wheels? Our Merry Creek mountain-bike network — Hail Merry, Mr. Green Jeans, Captain Kangaroo and more — has flow and technical challenges for every skill level.
